The Large Millimeter Telescope is the world’s largest single-aperture telescope in its frequency range. It’s a joint venture between Mexico and the USA and has been built to further our understanding of the universe and the world around us!
Our partners at Alchimica Mexico were recently involved with the project to waterproof the roof on one of the buildings on the site. The telescope is located on top of Sierra Negra, the fifth highest point in Mexico and 4,600 meters above sea level. Given the altitude the weather can prove a problem with high winds and even snow a real possibility up there. The Hyperdesmo liquid waterproofing system was applied to the buildings to make them waterproof and its 25 year BBA approval means they’ve got the reassurance that it will handle even the harshest weather conditions.
